Restores stripped screw holes in all kinds of action rails, including Steinway tubular rails.
This method, borrowed from museum conservation labs, uses a unique epoxy which has a very low viscosity (225 cPs) to penetrate cracks and wood cells. With 100% solids, there are no solvents to cause shrinkage in the drying phase. The result is a very hard acrylic that penetrates cracks and fills voids left by stripped screws.
Cracked brass in Steinway rails can be closed with clamps when the epoxy is still wet and once cured, will be firmly glued to the maple dowel inside.
The stiffness and integrity of the rail is fully restored in this process, with no need for replacement parts.
